TUESDAY, HOLY WEEK/CHRISM MASS

The very first evening-primrose bloom on plants I grew from seed last year.

I'm back from the diocesan Chrism Mass and lunch with friends after, including the musician friend with whom I'm writing the opera. Much fun. We sang John Blow's "Praise the Lord, Ye Servants" and Elgar's "The Spirit of the Lord is Upon Me," and it was all good. Tomorrow night: more choir practice for Easter Sunday morning at St. Michael's, where I'll be joining that choir for the great feast.

The rest of the day:

*been out with the dog

*try to do some work, even though I'm a bit fried

*I won't need much dinner, since I ate pretty much my entire day's calories for lunch

*a little therapeutic Vera (the end of the series) for the evening, as the husband will be out late

Wearing today:

*Wool& Fiona dress (M) in Marine Blue, bought fall 2024, last worn April 9. Wears in 2025: 7

*Secondhand J.Jill linen-rayon longline cardigan, bought early 2023, entering a third year of wear

*Secondhand Birkenstock Papillio wedge sandals, first year of wear

I was comfortable and appropriate --- can't ask for much more than that, really. This Fiona dress sees me through many public appearances of various kinds, dressing up or down at need, being flattering without announcing herself too loudly in any way. There's much to be said for understated, simple, go-anywhere dresses. But I've said it a million times already, and I have work to do, so you're on your own for a while.
