FRIDAY, ORDINARY TIME 19

Sunroom yesterday afternoon, when I was busy moving pottery around (also an excuse for a tiny bit of much-needed dusting --- but only a tiny bit). I do want to put some cafe curtains on those last windows to the left of the bookshelf. I don't know why I haven't done it, but it would be nice to have a little privacy there, without sacrificing the light.

Evening sun on the kitchen cabinets:

No golden hour is so golden as the golden hour at the end of a mid-August day.

And, again, in case you missed it yesterday, my mantelpiece with new pottery pieces (and some just moved from other locations):

The bowl at the far left is a piece from the Memphis potter Agnes Stark, which my cousin gave me for Christmas one year. The cut-out candle-holder pot in the center was made by Mack Christo in Seagrove --- my one purchase for myself last weekend. All the others are the Artgirl's work, including the two tall pieces.

I think this montage will pretty much stay like this, with tweaks for the seasons. It certainly feels nice for the coming fall.

Today:

*A dear friend from high school is coming through town, and we're meeting for coffee later this morning

*I've written and revised my three essays for next week, and yesterday made some good headway on a fiction project, which I'd very much like to pick up again later today

*The usual dog walks

Wearing:

I tried two ideas today, involving the same core piece.

*Wool& Maggie dress, bought May 2023, last worn July 20. Total wears this year so far: 15

*Secondhand Earth Shoe Mary Janes

I liked this rather basic outfit, but noted that I'd put my red linen-blend skirt on the list as a possibility with this dress.

So this is what I'm wearing.

*Secondhand New York&Co. linen-cotton-blend skirt, bought early 2023, last worn July 4. Total wears this year so far: 6

Although I need to nudge myself to wear this skirt more often, I like it a lot, and I wouldn't consider reselling it. It's a really nice clear red, and even though I don't wear red that much, sometimes this color, in this sweep and flow, absolutely scratches an itch.

I'm glad I put it on the list for this week. It was ready for an outing, as was this Maggie dress (worn now as a t-shirt), and the pairing of intense, saturated colors feels very appropriately end-of-summer to me.

I also switched out Mary Janes for Birk Mayaris, because I will miss them when it's too cold to wear them.

And now I'd better let the dog out.
