This is the last dress in my travel capsule. I almost didn't bring it, and then I almost didn't wear it, but really, today, it scratches all my itches: decent to wear to church, favorite color, easy shape, comfortable for the plane later on.
So it's been a good capsule. I've had something to wear every day that was really something I wanted to wear and felt good in.
Out of curiosity this morning, I looked up, again, the color palette that I think most truly suits my coloring. I'm not into all the seasonal warm/cool business, mostly because I think those designations are really subjective and unhelpful (when people start talking about a "warm blue," I'm out of here), but I think I pretty clearly fit the "True Summer" category. At any rate, all the colors I like and feel good in are in this palette:
Mind you, these palettes vary a lot. But I like this one because it includes a pretty wide range, including some soft browns, there at bottom left, that make me feel vindicated about wearing and liking
my brown linen dress. That beigy champagne color I wear is on here, too, and a pink that's fairly close to
Cinnamon Rose (ie a blushy, non-orchid sort of pink). There's not really any red on here, but the reds I wear are either not next to my face, or else they're very cranberry/wine-colored almost-pink reds, so I think I'm good there, too. I wouldn't not wear a color I loved just because it's not represented on this palette, but I find it interesting that the colors I really do love and consistently feel really good in are all here.
Anyway, that's how I'd approach these palettes --- think about what you know about yourself, your coloring, your level of contrast, and what you actually like and feel good in. I don't know that I'd pay for a color analysis, and I honestly don't ever see much in those reels where they're draping someone with different colors. Sometimes, yeah, there's a difference, but so often I just can't really tell and feel that that woman should wear what makes her feel happy and energized and beautiful.
Of course, I really think we largely have sound instincts about this, if we just have the confidence to listen to them, and I wonder whether anyone's "official" color palette is full of things they hate.
I myself at this moment am wearing a color I adore, in a dress that always makes me feel good, and that's a nice way to spend a Sunday.
