ASH WEDNESDAY

I forget from year to year when the dogwoods bloom, but it occurred to me this morning that this year, Easter --- occurring in March --- could be a dogwood Easter. I don't think it'll be an azalea Easter.

I'm beginning this day of fasting and abstinence with a visit to the dentist, which seems appropriate. No big deal, just a routine cleaning, but still. Not what I feel like doing; therefore a fitting little sacrifice.

Wearing today:

In which this purple linen button shirt comes into its own.

*Secondhand Japanese linen pinafore (no idea of the label or the actual size)

*Thrifted purple linen button shirt (forget the label, but it's really a very large shirt, too voluminous to wear under my NPL Smock dress, which was my first option for today's outfit --- just too much volume overall, hence the straighter pinafore to balance things out)

*Secondhand Allbirds slate-blue tencel-merino leggings

*Farm-to-Feet merino socks (Christmas stocking gift from the husband)

*Xero Tari boots

It's just above freezing out right now, but the high is supposed to be in the low 60sF, a nice day. I'll need a coat to walk to the dentist, but by this afternoon, when I go to Ash Wednesday Mass at the Abbey, I probably won't need one.
