SUNDAY, ORDINARY TIME 32/WOOLLY NATURAL 23 DAY 313

The neighborhood trees are just about finished, but still giving us one last burst of glory before the gray winter descends. This photo is actually from a couple of weeks ago --- I keep forgetting to take my phone with me when I walk the dog --- but it's evocative, at least, of this last flame of the season. So beautiful, so brief.

It's Sunday, of course, and also the first day after the end of my 30 days in Ocean Teal Willow. The challenge was easier and more fun than I had expected, but it's nice to be done. Today we'll go to Mass, then out for lunch, since my husband has been gone in the evenings since Thursday, and we missed our habitual pub night. Granted, I did amuse myself: I finished watching the first season of the old Rumpole of the Bailey (the only season currently available on Prime, alas), then binge-watched the entire second season of Dalgleish. That's a well-done series, and Bertie Carvel is marvelous, but throughout all the episodes Dalgleish's publisher keeps turning up and trying to talk him into ditching the police job to be a full-time poet, and I just . . . well, there my willing suspension of disbelief runs out.

Wearing today:

After 30 days in a teal dress, what I was really dying to wear was another teal dress. Here's Fiona, a bit wrinkled after a month on the shelf, but still a champ.

The wrinkles should largely fall out by the time we're ready to leave, an hour from now. Pairing her (like a fine wine) with Snag Crocodile (i.e., dark green) merino tights, thrifted Birk Melrose boots, very old thrifted silk/cashmere beaded cardigan, which I haven't worn in a long time but love. It's kind of amazing --- from a distance, any dark-colored tights basically read as a neutral, which helps this outfit not seem like a mishmash of colors. Really, it's two shades of gray and, if you think of teal as green (I mostly think of teal as blue, as it happens), two shades of green. Or it's gray-on-blue-on-green-on-another gray. Either way, I like that I can have multiple colors going on without looking like a color-wheel train wreck. These green snag tights feel like the equivalent of navy, a useful dark neutral, and I'm so glad I have them.

Yeah, definitely very wrinkled, but then Fiona has also spent time rolled up in a backpack and come out just fine. I really do wish that Wool& would make this style in more colors --- Iris Blue, say, would be my dream spring dress. Garnet would be a lot of fun, too.

Anyway. I need to brush my teeth and let the dog out. But I have sent in my challenge photo album and anxiously await my gift code, because I have made a decision about a next dress. It's in my cart already, even. Just waiting for the discount code, so that I can hit "Complete Purchase" and sing "Happy Birthday To Me," because all November is birthdaytide around here.
