SUNDAY, ORDINARY TIME 15/WOOLLY NATURAL 23 DAY 196/VIKING BIRTHDAY!

Fresh garden flowers for the table: zinnia, cosmos, Black-Eyed Susan.

Today, today, the Viking Son is 21! Two decades plus a year ago, during a British heat wave, I was languishing at the Rosie Maternity Hospital in Cambridge, in a bed beside the windows, with the world's warmest, reddest newborn. My husband was bringing the other children down on the bus to see him for the first time --- apparently, all the way there, his older sister (aged 8) had been grumbling that she hadn't wanted another brother. All I know was that while I was sweating away there in bed, holding my sweaty baby, suddenly from the door of the ward a familiar voice rang out: Oh, isn't he sweet!

Yes, yes, he was sweet. And he is sweet. The loveliest of all berserkers. Here he is, the baby berserker, on a boat on the River Ouse:

Once a swordsman, always a swordsman.

TFW your sister and her friend are going to a dance:

Having your own dance with that trustiest of all trusty sidekicks, the Artgirl:

This creation is probably still on display in his room (among many others):

Fishing at the beach:

But of course . . .

Anyway, happy birthday, dude. We love you.

Wearing today, for Mass and other celebrations:

A rehash of the week's best outfit: Brooklyn with Kosher Casuals crop top and Xero Jessie sandals. Simple, cool, and easy. This makes 4 wears for Brooklyn so far this month.

Again, the crop top's not strictly a natural. It's a viscose/spandex blend. But it's very light and cool --- it's also quite quick-drying as a hand-wash item, which is a plus. And it makes this dress wearable in every circumstance, and me confident in this dress in every circumstance.

The colors harmonize so well, and I feel so consistently good in them.

And now it's dog-walk time, before we leave for church.
