WEDNESDAY/EXALTATION OF THE TRUE CROSS/NO-BUY 2022 DAY 256/WEAR-IT-FORWARD CHALLENGE

A dog, thoroughly walked, enjoying her puzzle ball during tether time on her bed in the morning sun. We are working on self-calming routines in the house, following periods of activity; spending a little time tethered (never alone, always under supervision) after a walk is a way to have an imposed limit, so that the dog, stimulated by the period of activity, can't keep winding herself up and up. The idea is that eventually she will learn to settle herself on her bed or the couch while I work, instead of continuing to pester me to play, with barking and biting. She ate about half her breakfast portion of kibble on the walk itself, so now I'm feeding her the rest, in stages, in this rubber puzzle ball.

The Wear-It-Forward Challenge continues, though not quite as I had envisioned. I hadn't really thought I'd repeat my dress for another day, but lo, I have done precisely that. It's just the easiest thing to do, requiring the least thought.

Here again is my Wool& Camellia dress --- which I was wearing on this day a year ago as part of my 100-day challenge --- with my old thrifted J. Jill ramie pullover and Xero Oswego shoes, a good choice in transitional weather, when sandals feel a little too summery. It's pretty warm out today, but I was comfortable walking. And I do really like these Oswegos, which I bought on clearance last fall. I don't like them with socks or tights, so they're not great for seriously cold days, but otherwise, with dresses, skinny trousers, and leggings, they're a good comfortable between-seasons go-to choice.

As always, I continue to love the redye job I did on this dress. The darker color works so much better, I think, with layers in the colors I have.

A lot to do today: I have book reviews and endorsements to write, some other items to read, and essays to prepare. I did get up and write about a thousand words of prose this morning, for the first time in a long time, so that felt good. But the rest of it awaits me now.
