The window over the kitchen sink, with the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts, some holy water in a bottle from Walsingham, Tiny Dora, and a snail from somewhere in Europe. Waiting for my coffee to make. Then it'll be time to dress for Mass and the bridal shower after, and take the dog for a trot around the park loop. It's another soft day, but a little warmer, with a high near 80F and more sun, it looks like, than we had yesterday. Hard to believe we've got only ten more days in this most beautiful month, and then it'll be summer. It feels strange not to be preparing to go to the beach, as we've done every year for the last twelve years (except 2020), but my husband has some plans afoot, I think. They are a bit last-minute, and my fear is that everything we want to do will be all booked up, so it's not a go yet . . . but he was talking about it last night, and is evidently laying plans. SATURDAY, EASTER 2/NO-BUY 2022 DAY 120

Baby cosmos, in need of thinning, but it's always so lovely to see this next phase of leaves appear. I'm terrible at starting seeds indoors --- all the ones I started in February died, despite my attention and care (or maybe because of my attention and care). But once you can put seeds right in the ground outside, I'm there. Chives coming up in the little bed around the stump: A zinna: Marigolds: Butter lettuce just starting to come up: I have one head that I grew from seed last fall and had overwinter successfully, but thought I could probably get another little crop in before it gets too hot. Arugula going great guns and getting used all the time in my cooking and salad-making: And because this is a post-lapserian garden: Wild sweet-potato vine. Inedible and toxic. It just looks evil. FRIDAY, ORDINARY TIME 17

Pennsylvania smartweed, seen on our walk this morning, although there's also plenty of it right here in my yard. So far today I have: *done a full-body workout (about 10 minutes, mostly abs but also some leg) *walked the dog (twice) *begun an essay on Margaret Cavendish, 17th-century Duchess of Newcastle-upon-Tyne *pegged away at some of my own writing *picked up my car, which we had taken in to have aligned (so my new tires don't wear out so fast) *stopped in at Aldi for some salmon, corn on the cob, and other items for tonight's dinner *washed and hung laundry *made the bed I would really love to finish this Margaret Cavendish essay, because the weekend is going to be a wash as far as work is concerned, and next week I really need to make hay before I leave for New Hampshire on the 14th. I'm tired just thinking about it. But I'm also tired thinking about Margaret Cavendish. No, scratch that. Margaret Cavendish is fine. She was a fascinating person. It's thin...
