Another chillier day, with a projected high of 58F. Right now I'm sitting outside while Dora scatter-feeds her breakfast, and it's about 46F, which is less pleasant than it might be. Good for me to sit outside in all weathers, but man, I want to bask, and it's just not happening.
Not much on for the day: I've got one more little intro to write for next week's Poems of the Day, plus possibly some correspondence to see to. Lenten sonnet done. Housework, laundry, thoughts about what to pack for the weekend, which begins on Thursday. Because I've skinned up my knees so badly, I am thinking I'll want to wear longer skirts for reunion events, just so that I don't have to talk to everybody about my skinned knees, over and over, all weekend long. That's kind of a bummer, as it rules out my wool swing dresses as outfits for these events, but on the other hand, I do have some longer dresses and skirts that aren't getting that much wear at the moment. I definitely plan to take my grape sheath dress, though I might break my purple rule for at least one evening and wear something completely else: my pink linen maxi dress from last Easter, or my blue floral maxi skirt with a gauze top and cardigan. I can wear my blue-and-purple earrings, so technically still have some purple on, in case I'm feeling scrupulous.
I was standing at a strange angle when I took the photo above. I can't hang things straight to save my life, but I'm not sure that these two paintings, which I have at last put up on the kitchen wall after receiving them for Christmas, are as crooked as they look here. The wall is also not pink, though Benjamin Moore Linen White, which is the wall color, has a definite apricot undertone that shows up in certain lights. Mostly, especially in morning or evening light, it looks deliciously golden. My whole gallery-wall composition is a little wonky, as well as not exactly straight, because there were already nails in the wall which I wanted to use:
I need something small to fill in the white space between the paintings on the far right and the next items to the left. As you can see, I like to stick random little things on the wall. Here's a wider shot of that whole end of the kitchen:
Eventually I'd like that entire big blank walled to be filled, in a very maximalist way, with icons and religious art and other things, too. Eventually I'd like to rearrange the composition a little, too. Eventually I'd like to clean the lens of my camera, which seems to be smudged or filmed or something, because these photos look kind of cloudy. Anyway, welcome to the end of my kitchen that used to be a separate butler's pantry until somebody knocked the dividing wall out: a good thing, on the whole.
Wearing today, as a Lenten default:
Dear comfortable Sierra, with my thrifted grape Eddie Bauer cardigan and Xero Oswegos. It's a little cool for bare legs, but I wanted to let my skinned knees air without bandaids, and I did not want to bleed on any article of clothing or have it get stuck to my knees. So here we are. I might put bandaids on my knees later, then leggings, to go out and walk Dora, but we'll see what the temperatures feel like.
