Front door situation last night. I think I need to put some more greenery in that plant stand, though I'm all out of rose hips for the season.
We never do much in the way of outdoor decorations, but I thought some lights in the plant stand with the greenery would be pretty.
The back study/den, looking a little Christmasy.
Yesterday was sunny, and Dora and I spent a good hour dozing together in the sun through the study/den window.
Today is gray and cold. I had to go out this morning for a thyroid ultrasound –– no obvious issues, but it is enlarged, and since we've met our deductible, both the NP and I thought, well, what the heck, why not? Anyway, I was up and dressed early, and glad I put on wool.
Rewearing the navy merino base-layer tee I wore yesterday, with Sierra and my old thrifted Pierre Cardin cotton crocheted cardigan, for a little purplish action. I'm wearing Snag tights in Rainy Day –– I washed my merino tights last night, and the feet are still wet, but I regretted not having them on when I went out. If those don't dry soon, I'll probably swap these tights for a pair of leggings and wool socks with my Docs before I go walking with Dora.
Remarking to myself how much more I like the length and swing of this dress than I do the length and shape of my Poshmarked Pact cotton dress, also worn yesterday. I dunno . . . I keep thinking I'd like to get one more wool dress, and that possibly I'd get a plum-heather tencel Camellia, because I know I'd wear it year-round. If I did do that, I'd resell the Pact dress, because while I like that color, I don't need two dresses in it. We shall see. A lot will depend on year-end finances, etc. But having gotten dressed today, I am pondering how much better I feel in this shape and length –– not to mention how warm wool is, on a day when warm feels especially welcome.
Still glad I'm hanging onto this base-layer tee. I can tell I'm going to wear it a lot.
Planning my Christmas outfits –– I think for Christmas Eve, including Mass, I'll wear my burgundy bamboo long-sleeved swing dress, with my gray-green Snag tights and camel boots, plus some cardigan, maybe in gray or else dark green. For Christmas Day, which will include a lot of cooking, I think I might wear my blue version of the same dress with slate-gray Snag tights, Birk Madeiras, and, again, some gray cardigan, plus blingier-than-usual necklaces. The idea is to dress festively, but dress to be on my feet a lot during the day. Of course I could change my mind, depending on the weather, but I think it's supposed to warm up, in which case a bamboo dress will be just the right weight.
Still need to finish grocery shopping and lining up stocking stuffers and candy.
Our older son flies in late tonight, and then we have a one-day breather before the rest of the party descends upon us.
