ASH WEDNESDAY

A shot from last week, of a backyard rose leafing out. Today, appropriately, the rain is pouring down.

Today:

*Prayer and fasting

*Dog out as weather permits (sun came out around 10, so nice walk)

*Send poetry submissions (done)

*Finish and load Friday's essay (in progress)

*Mass and ashes this afternoon (coming up)

*Lentil/potato soup for supper (cooking now in the crockpot)

Wearing (dressed & smiling, because do not be like the hypocrites):

*Secondhand Not Perfect Linen Mama maxi dress (S) in Caffe Mocha, bought fall 2024, last worn February 7. Wears in 2025: 2 --- but that number is set to increase this season.

*Thrifted Peruvian Connection alpaca cardigan, bought fall 2022, third year of wear

*Secondhand Birkenstock Rosemeads, bought February 2023, third year of wear

I haven't worn this dress much yet this year, but it will see a good bit of action in Lent and beyond. It's a fabulous transitional-season dress in a fairly heavy linen, and I just love it worn simply with sandals or clogs. It's penitentially purple (well, okay, purple really doesn't feel that much like a penance, because I do just like it), but soft and springlike, perfect for this warmish day. I'm not exactly punishing myself here.

Back to work now.
