WEDNESDAY, ORDINARY TIME 34

Thanksgiving table: a sneak preview. Everyone else is out (with both cars), so I have been cooking and puttering all day. In addition to setting the table, I've made two pumpkin pies, a big batch of cranberry sauce, and filling for a cherry pie.

Tomorrow morning's cooking: turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed sweet potatoes, and steamed broccoli with bacon and gorgonzola.

Now I'm tired and glad to sit down for a while. We're going out tonight, which is a blessing --- after dealing with food all day, I don't really feel like eating, much less cooking any more. But it's good to get things done, and tomorrow will be lovely.

This morning I got up and didn't really get dressed all the way to walk the dog and work in the house:

I just threw on my navy Allbirds leggings, my Icebreaker base-layer tee, my big merino cardigan coat, and these Xero hikers to go out with the dog. It was cold enough that I needed a coat over all that as well. I stayed like this to do all my cooking, but now, midway through the afternoon, I've bathed, washed my hair, and gotten dressed a little more for real.

*Secondhand Not Perfect Linen Smock dress (S/M) in Dark Gray-Blue, bought December 2023, last worn November 4. Total wears this year to date: 26

*Secondhand Icebreaker base-layer tee in Dusty Rose. Bought early winter 2023, I think? Or in 2021? I can't remember. I've had it a good while. I love this mauve-y color with my gray-blue dress.

*Snag merino tights in Storm Cloud, bought spring 2022, I think, and entering a third season of wear.

*Xero Tari boots, bought summer 2022, third season as a default winter shoe.

This is a good, easy outfit, in one of my favorite default dresses. And now I'd better take this dog out again. She has been patient while I cooked, but now she is BORED and letting me know it.

PS:

Don't let anyone tell you you can't wear gray and brown together. You so totally can.
