FRIDAY, LENT 1

About the time we went to bed last night, the rain started, a nice soft tickling rain, good for falling asleep to. It was still raining this morning when we got up, but now, for the time being, anyway, the rain seems to have stopped. It's gray out: not cold, but not warm, either, one of those 63F days that don't feel quite like the onset of lambs and buttercups.

Wearing today (because I'm dressed already and have stuff to do):

There are worse ways to decide what to wear than to ask yourself, "Hm, what's on the bottom of the dress stack on the shelf in the closet?"

*Wool& Brooklyn dress (S/Long) in Pacific, bought May 2023

*Secondhand Flax linen skirt, bought January 2024

*Secondhand Talbots merino blazer cardigan, bought January 2023, I think

*Snag merino tights in Silver Lining (feet cut off), bought sometime in 2021

*Boody bamboo socks, bought sometime in 2022

*Secondhand Birkenstock Melrose boots in Graphite, bought summer 2023

Hair in default ponytail. Still using just velour or satin scrunchies, not anything harder, hoping to keep my hair in good shape for a couple more months before I (maybe) break down and cut it.

Really grooving on the skirts this week. Some weeks it's pinafores. Some weeks it's just plain dresses. There's no real pattern here, just whatever I incline toward in a given moment. And as always, I'm challenging myself to wear my whole closet, barring (for this season) things that don't go with purple.

I can tell, too, that I'm going to like wearing this skirt with this dress, just as they come, with sandals in the summer. The colors are great together, and the silhouette is really nice. So good to anticipate getting that much more duty out of a single dress . . .

And on with the day.
