Sun at my window, a welcome and beautiful sight.
Lovely night with the Fire Son and friends in Black Mountain last night, followed by a drive home in rain and fog. It was all right, though visibility at times was interesting, and I got home safely around 11:15.
Husband still unwell this morning, so I'm on my way to Mass by myself --- with a particular prayer intention that I not get what he has, at least not this week.
Wearing:
Trying again to wear things that haven't seen action all month --- and especially clothes I'll effectively fast from in Lent, since they're not purple/purple adjacent. With that season fast approaching, it behooves me to be mindful.
*Wool& Brooklyn dress (S/Long) in Beetroot, bought November 2023
*Secondhand Erika & Co. vintage floral linen-cotton pinafore, bought December 2023
*Secondhand Peruvian Connection alpaca cardigan, bought September 2022
*Snag merino tights in Red Velvet, bought summer 2023
*Secondhand Birkenstock Papillios, bought September 2023
I've been defaulting to boots and forgetting how much I like these fun Birkenstock clogs. AND I've been overlooking this floral pinafore/jumper, which I also love. All of this seemed like a good choice for a day when the sun is trying to come out, and it's chilly but not really cold.
My plan is to come back, plant some pansies I bought when I bought the dirt yesterday, then work on . . . stuff . . . that still needs to be done on the Mystery Project. But for now I'm off to church.
AFTERNOON UPDATE:
Nice Mass. Came home and planted the pansies in planters out front, then did some work. Now I'm mostly packed for my road trip, and praying, again, that whatever the husband has, I don't get. If need be, I can push my leaving back to Wednesday, and do my Memphis visiting on the way home the next week --- but I'd rather just be happy and healthy and get up and go in the morning.
Because I am mostly packed. Here's my core travel capsule:
*NPL Smock dress (will probably wear to drive)
*Both Willow dresses: Ocean Teal and Willow (might wear one under my Smock dress, or else I'll wear my Marine Blue Maggie OR today's Beetroot Brooklyn under, which will add another dress to the capsule)
*Brooklyn dress in Pacific
*Allbirds leggings in green, slate blue, and navy (will wear one pair to drive)
*Green Sparrow merino pullover
*Blue merino cardigan
*Pink merino cardigan
*Aran Crafts cardigan (will probably wear to drive)
*Green pashmina
*Indigo wool scarf
Not shown: Tari boots, Melrose boots (will probably wear to drive), Papillios (I'd forgotten how much I like them --- I've been wearing them all day today), and my big heavy snow boots to wear to Party in the Park on Saturday. The forecast is rain, so it's going to be muddy. I'll wear my navy leggings, which will stain the least, a wool dress, and the Groundhog sweatshirt which is basically my ticket to get in. AND my Gore-Tex jacket.
Also not shown: my alpaca cardigan, because I'm wearing it. No way am I not taking that. It's my uniform.
Then an array of socks and tights, and the usual underwear and toiletries, which are all mostly packed.
I bought some elderberry-zinc gummies on my way home from Mass and am taking them. COLD B-GONE. That's what I say.
