Hunter's moon, the waning of the year. We've turned a corner in Ordinary Time: the last few weeks are upon us before the liturgical year refreshes itself, and we set our face for the Incarnation.
And now we're counting down the secular year in double digits. Tomorrow, there will be sixty-five days left of it before the time makes its big turn, and we leave 2023 behind forever.
But for now, it's another Sunday, and I'm going to walk the dog and go to Mass with my husband --- and be glad to be home. It is good to sit at my own kitchen table, in my own house, with my own town around me.
What I'm wearing for all that:
Teal Willow again! Worn here with thrifted vintage-90s rayon floral skirt and thrifted Birkenstock Papillio wedges. It's warm again today, with a projected high in the mid-80s Farenheit, so no cozy layers for me, no thank you. Not that I don't want the cozy layers, but you do or don't do what the weather dictates.
I do love this skirt. It made my Easter outfit this past year, and it might well do that again in 2024, when Easter is early and likely to be cold. This skirt gives me all the garden-party feels, but I can wear tights under it, and a whole wool-dress layer, and a cardigan . . .
Anyway. I also love my Willow, with her graceful, open neckline. She makes a great top. After eighteen days I'm starting to pine a little for my other dresses, but on the other hand, I really like wearing this dress. She has a lot of perfections.
Time to let the dog out, then scrunch the gel out of my hair before we go to worship the living God in the beauty of holiness and all.
PS:
At the last minute I tossed on this long cardigan:
It's a nice light linen blend, so won't add any appreciable weight or heat to my outfit, but I really love the vertical line it creates. Sometimes you look in the mirror and take one thing off, but sometimes you look in the mirror and put one thing on, and either move can be the right one. Now, for real and serious, I can stop thinking about myself and turn my mind to my creator.
