The harbor last night was full of tall ships. We walked around and looked at them for a while, then had dinner in the Fish Market, splitting this large platter of seafood. I wasn't nuts about whale steak, either the idea or the reality, but people eat it here, and it was on this platter, so I tried it.
The rest was delicious, however, and now we can say we've done that.
Walked around the harbor area and the old Hanseatic town of Bryggen (which is basically just that harbor area), before enjoying a final glass of wine in the sun by the water.
Then home to make an early night of it. The views from our windows were beautiful, of course, in the late light.
But around 10, a change of weather began to move in, bringing mist from the sea.
This morning is overcast, and rain is in the forecast, so it looks as though we're leaving just in time to miss what is probably more normal Bergen weather than we've been enjoying.
Wearing today for the long trip home:
Camellia it was for the journey here, and Camellia it is for the journey home. I had actually put out my Maggie to wear, but this morning I discovered that she had a little cut --- literally as though she'd been snipped with scissors, though I don't know how she could have been --- right above the hem. I can mend it, and she'll be fine, but I didn't want to stress that area by traveling in the dress, so have pulled out Camellia again. I have leggings in my daypack, which I've debated putting on, but I think I'll leave them off for now. It was hot in the Amsterdam airport before, and it'll certainly be hot at home.
Leggings option (literally exactly what I wore on the journey here):
Anyway, farewell to Norway, farewell to all the beauty, farewell to the fjords. Hope we see you again someday!
