FRIDAY, EASTER 3/WOOLLY 23 DAY 118

Morning kitchen. It rained hard all night long, but look at the window over the sink: sunshine! Granted, almost as soon as I took the picture, clouds passed over and dulled the light, but then the sun shone out again, so I think it's going to be an okay day.

Just waiting for the coffee to brew and for my Kindle to charge so that I can read a little before starting my day in earnest. The Old Curiosity Shop is quite the page turner, even when the pages are electronic.

NOON UPDATE:

Just back from a 3+-mile walk with Dora, which felt good. We haven't been hitting it very hard lately, and it's good to get back into a zone where I can anticipate at least 4 miles walked by bedtime.

She did lunge and bark at another dog on the greenway trail, kind of a training fail --- but the guy had stopped to talk to me, and he wasn't paying attention to his dog, who of course is "friendly/just wants to play," anyway. I had moved off the trail with Dora and put her in a sit, with lots of treats, which generally works, but wherever her current boundary line is, that dog drifted over it. The guy said something about Dora being "aggressive." I said, "She just really doesn't like other dogs," and both of us went our respective ways. I hate for Dora to come across as "aggressive," but dude, if your dog gets even close to her space --- when we are way off the trail to give you tons of room to pass us --- then yeah, sorry. She does what she does. I have her tethered to my waist, with all these protocols, for a REASON.

Now we're back, and she's in her crate having her breakfast, and I'm at the table having my breakfast and drinking some water, preparatory to calling my mother, whom --- as I suddenly realize --- I haven't called since I left Memphis a week ago Monday. Training fails, 4th-Commandment fails . . . we're having quite the day here.

Wearing for it:

Here's another goofy 60s-fashion-model pose. All I need is to be doing something awkward with my free arm. Anyway, I'm wearing Sierra today, knocking her into the 6-wears club for April. Although it hasn't been that long since I last washed and dried her, she is feeling very stretched-out --- more so since we've been out in the humid heat.

But anyway. Wearing her today with this thrifted Icebreaker merino tee, another of those shirts I haven't been wearing nearly enough. This combination was almost too warm on our walk, but not bad. I like pink and gray together, and of all my sleeveless dresses, I think Sierra works best as a jumper/pinafore over a shirt.

Trying to get shots from various angles. Anyway, once again I'm wearing my easy Birk Floridas and feeling just generally laid-back in this outfit. It's nice to have the warmer temperatures back, so I don't need leggings, and good to make myself wear my shirts, which I do very much like.

Much to do this afternoon, but first I'd better finish my yogurt and blueberries and give my mother a call.

UPDATE: I did in fact rectify the 4th-Commandment fail and give my mother a call. The dog has been acting like she's on speed all day, even after more walks which bring us to a total of 4.5 miles. She's crated now, having had her supper, because I just cannot for a while.
