FRIDAY, ORDINARY TIME 21/NO-BUY 2022 DAY 237

Zinnias on a zinnia-patterned tablecloth. I set us a nice table last night, for our first official empty-nest dinner of the new academic year.

Dinner was simple: burger patties topped with basil and tomato slices from the garden, with a side of chickpea salad (chickpeas, dash balsamic vinegar, salt, garlic powder, parmesan, some shreds of fresh basil). But it was good, and it was nice to sit down together, just us.

I'd had a pretty productive day:

*Hauled a massive amount of junk out of the laundry room and disposed of it

*Tackled mildew around the tub in the upstairs bathroom

*Did three loads of laundry

*Unpacked and put away my own clothes from the trip (not a major task, since I'd packed so lightly)

*Walked the dog

*Washed, sliced and put our backyard apples in the crockpot to simmer down for applesauce

*Begun revising my new poetry MS, with the thought of getting it into the pipeline for publication sometime in the next year

Today I need to:

*Walk the dog

*Finish cleaning the laundry room

*Write my Sun essays for next week

Wearing today:

A repeat of a standard outfit: my gray wool Sierra dress with blue EVA Birkenstocks. I'm apparently being taken out tonight (he won't tell me where), so might tweak this basic ensemble somehow, but hopefully I'm not going anywhere where this wouldn't be essentially appropriate.
