SUNDAY, ORDINARY TIME 18/NO-BUY 2022 DAY 212/JULY 4/3 CHALLENGE

The jewelry situation, plus a couple of tiny claw clips. It looks artistic, but if anyone wants to know why I wear the same necklace and earrings day after day after day, it's because they're the only thing I can extract from this tangle.

Sunday Mass outfit:

Maggie swing dress, thrifted leather braided belt, Xero Cassie shoes. I really like this dress belted --- it feels so simple and graceful and low-key. As always, I enjoy the luminous marine-blue color, which is essentially navy, but with more depth and brilliance somehow. And red shoes: always fun.

Hair situation:

The usual fun of trying to photograph the back of my head, but anyway, here's my go-to half-updo, with a tiny little scrunchie.

For the afternoon I'm back in my Camellia, because if the rain holds off we're going to walk the river trail with Dora. I've been sleeping in this dress fairly regularly, but she still smells fine, so I figure, why not just pop her back on?

At any rate, as of today my July 4/3 Challenge is OVER. I'm glad I thought of it and glad I did it, because it did push me, three days a week, to make some outfits I liked out of clothing items I often overlook, rather than simply defaulting to my stable of easy swing dresses. Here are some highlights:

The shirt didn't hold up all that well to walking in the heat, but overall, I liked this outfit, with its interplay of blues and sage green.

Another shorts outfit. One thing I appreciated about this challenge was that it pushed me to wear these shorts more, which in turn meant wearing tops I often don't reach for because I'm wearing dresses. I like this gray bamboo-fiber tunic, which is soft and floaty and not hot, even as a longer-sleeved layer.

The challenge also meant that I got more wear out of my merino tees than I had been getting. Here's my Ibex grape/pink tee with, again, sage green: this long thrifted twill skirt. I'm glad to have gotten around to putting these elements together, and I really liked the outcome.

I was also happy to wear this purple sheath dress I hadn't worn in quite some time.

I wore a lot of pink in the course of this challenge: not only this jumpsuit, but also my linen dresses, which tend to languish unworn more than they deserve.

I really loved this latter outfit, which was last Sunday's Mass attire.

And then I wore a lot of swing dresses, four days a week.

And so on. I also did many other interesting things besides stand in my bathroom, but that pursuit is what I photographed.

Well, vale, July, vanishing away into the past as every month does in its turn. Tomorrow I'll be glad to say salve to August, with whatever it has in store.
