A quickie, from two angles, because I'm on my way out to Mass, then work to do before the guys have to leave for the airport.
Today's outfit: the other long-sleeved secondhand bamboo "Fauxwena" swing dress in burgundy, with Snag tights in "Rainy Day," thrifted Birk Madeiras, thrifted jean jacket.
Also, my impressive Viking son in full battle regalia, handing out candy last night upon his return from the weekend's event:
It's been good to see him and my son-in-law, albeit very briefly. Good time had by all, apparently, on the battlefield and in the mead-hall. In fact, they brought back some elderberry mead, so we had a little Halloween mead-hall going on here, once the candy ran out.
OK, off to the races.
LATER:
Mass was beautiful, but the cantor (who has a marvelous voice) was clearly unfamiliar with the timing of both "For All the Saints" and the final bars of "Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones." That final "ia" in that final "Alleluia," man: DON'T RUSH IT. IT GETS FOUR FULL BEATS. But anyway, the Mass was beautiful and I was glad to be there.
Dudes are still here. Their flight, which was supposed to leave at 6 pm, now leaves at 9. So I'm making chili to feed us all.
Gosh, is it ever easy to get up and put on a soft swing dress. Nice to have a little rotation of them. Wish my reward Sierra would get here. It's so nice just to go "on and done and out the door." I was glad I'd paired the jean jacket with my blue dress in my closet-shopping adventures yesterday, because I thought of it today instead of a cardigan. I also love these marled gray "Rainy Day" tights from Snag – not wool, but a little softer and less sheeny than some of the other colored opaque tights I've bought from them. Not that I'm complaining about the other tights. They're still great tights. But I'm glad I chose these today: nice and soft, with some subtle pattern interest going on.
Like the blue dress, this is a dress I'd wear for many, many occasions, dressed up or down. It's a medium, whereas the blue is a small, but the fit is so close to the same I really can't tell the difference. I really might just not wear anything but a swing dress ever again . . . stay tuned.
